| Annotation: | In this short article about Visheswar Saklani, a native of a Pujargaon village who began to plant trees with his brother when the construction of a road near their childhood village encroached upon the surrounding forest, Emett describes Saklanis ensuing career as an avid planter and the visionary person responsible for motivating his tree-planting initiatives in India. Saklanis efforts to counter deforestation have earned him both the Friend of the Trees Award (1987) as well as time in jail for planting on government property. |
